“Passow” Oak Back Bar & Liquor Cabinet

Vintage, 18-foot oak back bar and oak liquor cabinet, circa 1890s, built by the historical Chicago bar maker, Charles Passow & Sons. Recently acquired from a location in the Milwaukee area, this pre-Prohibition back bar has a large, single-arch frame and comes with mirrors (not in place at time of photos). Mirror is divided into two halves with center brace. Additional structural details include large tapered cylindrical columns with carved capitals, a rectilinear crown with beadwork trim, light fixtures that line the inner arch frame, a center carved lion head plus egg-and-art relief accents, large shelf top, and six lower drawers and cabinet doors in the base. Cabinets are each divided with one mid-level shelf.

Liquor cabinet follows same basic symmetrical frame design with similar linear crown and relief, plus carved cylindrical front columns. There are also six shelf levels with an open front, plus two lower cabinet doors.
