Pair of Rosewood Cabinets, Circa 1880

Nice pair of large, rosewood cabinets, attributed to Herter Brothers Co. of New York City, circa late 1800s. Featuring rich, wood grain, each includes shaped frame, with matching crown and five shelf levels.

Other details includes small inset cabinets with glass doors, multiple colonnades with carved capitals, carved recessed panels and highly carved trim and accents. Recess patterns are arranged as asymmetrical “mirror-reflections”, so the two cabinets can be set to meet in the middle in two ways, either as book ends to other pieces set between them, or side by side.
