Ebonized Eastlake Full Mantel, with Tile & Cover Set

Impressive, towering Eastlake Aesthetic full mantel, with ebonized finish. Includes original tiled hearth, firebox tile surround and three-piece, cast-iron fireback. Has many carved features, including large concave crown, carved columns, shelving, geometrical and florals engravings, galley railings, and finials. Piece includes a stamp on the back that reads: “HERTS BROS 800 Broadway NY.”

This piece was included in a collection of furniture recently acquired by Wooden Nickel Antiques which originated from the historic, 156-year-old Morrison House, located in the Clifton neighborhood of Cincinnati. This property – first built in 1867 and remodeled in 1880 – is an impressive, three-story, red-brick, Italianate structure of the Victorian era. And it had been home to many unique, late-1800s period pieces of furniture and decorative items, such as this one.
